Policies and Procedures

Meet and Greet Visit

When you call Doggie's Playmate, one of our pet handlers will set up a meet & greet. At that time, we will get to know your pet and discuss what type of services will best fit your schedule. The meet-and-greet visit will last around an hour. At this time, we will also do the following:

  • Get acquainted with you and your pets; during this time we like to take the dog for a a free, get-acquainted walk
  • Get detailed information about caring for your pets and home, using Doggie’s Playmate Pet Information Sheet (our first-time clients will be asked to complete this form prior to the first Doggie Playdate, walk or service provided)
  • Pick up keys to your home
  • Answer any questions you may have.

Service Week
Doggie’s Playmate service week starts on Monday, giving you and us time to plan and prepare for an appropriate schedule.

Left in Your Home

We require that you leave the following items in your home:

  • cleaning products
  • food
  • medicine
  • treats
  • vitamins
Please make sure your pet sitter is aware where everything is located.

Activity Reports

In addition to our weekly activity reports, new clients will be contacted every day for the first week so we can update you on your pet’s first days with us.  We do this to give you peace of mind that things are going according to your needs and expectations.

Accessing Your Home

Doggies Playmate will need a set of keys to enter your home.   We will not leave keys inside your home at the end of the sit. In case you can not make it back on time, we want to make sure your pets are taken care of until you get back safely. Doggie's Playmate will return your keys to you once you call us and set up a time to drop them off.

We will not enter your residence unless we are scheduled to do so.  Of course, circumstances do happen. In an emergency, we might have to enter your residence.  We will contact you first.  If you can’t be reached, we will leave a message and leave an Unscheduled Access Report to explain the circumstances and outcome of the visit.

Inclement Weather

Dogs will be walked if it is raining, but they will not be walked in storm conditions for the safety of your pet and the Doggie's Playmate Pet handler.  We will contact you in these conditions to discuss how  services will be carried out for that day.

Cancellation

Availability is limited and cancellations or schedule changes must be made in advance and are also subject to fees.

We require a full 24 hours notice for all cancellations. Payments for services not cancelled in time will be the client's responsibility.

Payment

If payment is made by check and the check is returned, there will be a $20 fee and payment must be made in cash going forward. If payment is not made on time of the agreed payment period, a last fee of $20 will be incurred by the client.

Last-Minute Bookings

We require at least 24 hours notice for all booking. If you need to make a last-minute booking, a $5 last-minute fee will apply.

Doggie Boarding

Your pets must be up to date on their vaccinations. All pets will be screened for temperament. We require that your pets be bathed within 48 hours prior to the beginning of our stay in your home. During tick and flea season, please take appropriate actions prior to your pet's in home boarding.

Termination Policy

We require 2 weeks notice if you no longer require our services.

High-Needs Doggies

We all wish we had the perfect dog.. but this is the real world, and sometimes we come across dogs that need a little more attention. We can only accept dogs who can walk safely and securely on a leash. Dogs are always walked on leash, unldess they are in a secured dog-run area.

Free Walks

Did somebody say free walks? Absolutely! Every time you introduce us to a new client, you will get one free walk. Doggie's Playmate will give you one free play date.

Weekly Activity Report     

We know that whenyou get home from a busy day, it's important that you know how your pet's day went. Our daily progress reports let you know what your pet did each day, what time they did it, and who was with your pet that day. We encourage you to include your questions in these progress reports.

PET-FRIENDLY TIPS

Leave enough water for your pet to last until the Pet Sitter's first scheduled visit.

Make sure that you have left enough supplies (food, medicine, treats, kitty litter, paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc.) for your Pet Sitter and ensure that they are all left where you told your Pet Sitter they would be

Tell your neighbors, landlord and/or super that your Pet Sitter will be stopping by

Please explain to pet sitter where you keep your dog's leash

In the event of an emergency, please give your pet sitter proper phone numbers to call.

Turn on the outside light for your Pet Sitter,

We will double-check all doors to make sure they are locked.
